摘要:inthisstudy,theelectrospinningperformanceandsolutionpropertiesofnafionanditsblendwithanotherpolyelectrolyte,poly(acrylicacid)(paa),wereinvestigated.attemptstoelectrospinpurenafionatvariouspolymerconcentrations(5−35wt%),solvents,neutralization,andelectrospinningconditionsresultedinelectrosprayingratherthanelectrospinning.however,apolymersolutionblend(5wt%)ofnafionandpaaresultedinbeadedfibersat8wt%paaandsmoothelectrospinningabove12%paa.fibersizesoftheblendincreasedfrom90to600nmwithincreasingpaacontent.dynamiclightscatteringonpurenafionsolutionsinvarioussolventsrevealslargeaggregates(i.e.,dispersion)ofvarioussizesduetopolymerbackboneandionicinteractions.thelackofsufficientpolymerchainentanglementevidencedbylowviscosityandaggregateformationinnafionsolutionsprohibitsfiberformationduringelectrospinning.theadditionofpaatonafionmodifiestheionicstrengthofthesolventresultinginsuppressedaggregateformation,increasedviscosity,andsubsequentlyenhancedpolymerchainentanglement.coincidentally,theonsetofsuppressedaggregateformationintheblendsolutioncoincideswiththeelectrospraying−electrospinningtransition(8%paa).inaddition,thermaltreatmentenhanceswaterstabilityoftheelectrospunblendfibers.
