摘要:usingstatisticalexperimentaldesignmethodologies,thesolidlipidnanoparticledesignspacewasfoundtobemorerobustthanpreviouslyshowninliterature.formulationandhighshearhomogenizationprocesseffectsonsolidlipidnanoparticlesizedistribution,stability,drugloading,anddrugreleasehavebeeninvestigated.experimentationindicatedstearicacidastheoptimallipid,sodiumtaurocholateastheoptimalcosurfactant,anoptimumlecithintosodiumtaurocholateratioof3:1,andaninverserelationshipbetweenmixingtimeandspeedandnanoparticlesizeandpolydispersity.havingdefinedthebasesolidlipidnanoparticlesystem,β-carotenewasincorporatedintostearicacidnanoparticlestoinvestigatetheeffectsofintroducingadrugintothebasesolidlipidnanoparticlesystem.thepresenceofβ-caroteneproducedasignificanteffectontheoptimalformulationandprocessconditions,butthedesignspacewasfoundtoberobustenoughtoaccommodatethedrug.β-caroteneentrapmentefficiencyaveraged40%.β-carotenewasretainedinthenanoparticlesfor1month.asdemonstratedherein,solidlipidnanoparticletechnologycanbesufficientlyrobustfromadesignstandpointtobecomecommerciallyviable.
