可程式复合盐雾试验机突破了传统盐雾箱的概念，除具有通常盐雾试验机的功能外，还结合有交变（循环）盐雾试验的功能，提供了痴状腐蚀和丝状腐蚀等试验环境，具备了热风干燥、湿热、强制干燥、盐雾等试验环境。
与传统盐雾箱相比，盐雾、干燥、湿热等循环腐蚀对产品的作用更切合实际，因为产品都是在干湿环境中运输、保存、使用，所以，加速腐蚀试验机应更能切合实际地模拟这种环境，并且国外研究亦表明：循环腐蚀相对于腐蚀速率、结构、形态都非常接近于户外腐蚀，与户外腐蚀有着的相关性，并列入常用试验范畴，越来越多的汽车行业的试验都要求进行多步聚的将盐雾、干燥、湿热结合起来循环。
