background: actins are highly conserved proteins that are involved in various types of cell motility and are ubiquitously expressed in all eukaryotic cells .g-actin (globular actin) with bound atp can polymerise to form f-actin (filamentious actin). actin monomers spiral ariound the axis of the filament similar to a double helix. f-actin may also undergo a process called treadmilling, in which filament length remains constant and actin monomers add at one end and dissociated at the other.
